Clams with Fried Noodles Recipe


Clams are two-shelled mollusks related to the scallops and oysters. Clams are found in the coastal waters of the sea and in shallow freshwater lakes and streams. Apart from being used for food clams are also used as fish bait, and their shells can be made into buttons. They contain the necessary nutrients for body growth just like other fish.
Cook time is 40 minutes (Serves 3)
Ingredients for the recipe
200g vermicelli glass noodles
3 tablespoon oil
200g leek
1 tablespoon peanut oil
15 water chestnuts
Salt
Caster sugar
1 teaspoon glutamate
½ chicken stock
1 small tin bamboo shoots
1 tin clams
2 tablespoon corn flour
Procedure for the recipe
  • Cook the vermicelli according to the instructions on the package in boiling water. Remove, drain and fry in sizzling oil. Keep warm. Trim, rinse and finely slice the leek.
  • Heat the peanut oil and fry the leek. Drain the water chestnuts and add to the cooking pot. Add the spices and stir-fry for 3 mins.
  • Pour the chicken stock in and bring to the boil. Drain the bamboo shoots and clams and add to the boiling pot.
  •  Dissolve the corn flour in 3 tablespoons water and pour into the boiling pot. Leave to simmer for 3 mins. Serve the clams with the fried noodles.
